The significant contribution of independent skills training, higher education and international education providers is recognised by leaders across the political spectrum.  This is due to the great contribution of Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) members and their leadership in the national policy debate

One of the great examples of member-driven advocacy is annual Independent Tertiary Education Parliamentary Forum which this year will be held on 14 November 2023 in Parliament House, Canberra.

This exclusive event is designed to empower leaders of independent skills training and higher education providers with an understanding of the national policy agenda and ITECA's role in shaping the reform debate.

A Venue That's Appropriate For This Gathering Of Leaders

The forum is held in the secure area Parliament House.  Attendees will develop an appreciation for how the daily functions of the building impact the legislative process.  A highlight is watching Question Time in the House of Representatives

The forum is the nation's preeminent meeting of business leaders from the independent tertiary education sector and political leaders that include:

      ◾ The Hon. Jason Clare MP – Minister for Education
      ◾ The Hon. Brendan O'Connor MP – Minister for Skills & Training
      ◾ The Hon. Susan Ley MP – Shadow Minister for Industry, Skills & Training
      ◾ Sen. Hon. Sarah Henderson – Shadow Minister for Education

Also meeting with ITECA members will be key cross-bench parliamentarians plus senior public servants involved with skills training and higher education sector.

Those attending include senior executives from representatives of private, non-profit and enterprise skills training and higher education providers.  Attendance is by invitation only and includes members of ITECA's national, state and territory policy committees.
